On Monday, Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon Alexa announced a new partnership for the upcoming release of the third film in the popular franchise, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation via Twitter. Customers and their families are able to enjoy summer bedtime stories voiced by some of their favorite characters from the film including Andy Samberg (Johnny), Steve Buscemi (Wayne the Werewolf), and Fran Drescher who voices Eunice.
By simply saying, “Alexa, open Hotel Transylvania,” customers can access a selection of stories, nursery rhymes and jokes read by their favorite characters including Keegan-Michael Key (Murray the Mummy) available everyday through the release of the kid-friendly film on July 13. The promotion also features the function to create a custom Alexa alarm clock through the company’s app.
In the new summer film, audiences join the beloved monster family as they venture on a luxury monster cruise ship, giving Drac the chance to go on a vacation from hosting every one of his ghostly guests who are on vacations at the hotel. Drac’s pack indulges in all of the ship’s fun-filled activities including monster volleyball and many other exotic adventures. However, the dream vacation takes a horrible turn when Drac falls head over heels for a human ship captain who is hiding a secret that threatens them all. The film is directed and written by Genndy Tartakovsky and Michael McCullers and has been predicted to have a strong domestic opening ranging between $40-$45 million during the July 13-15 weekend, according to Variety.
“The Hotel Transylvania characters have won over young audiences and their families for years. We love to utilize new technologies like voice recognition to engage our young fans with the characters they love and spark their imaginations in unique ways. This Alexa skill will surprise, entertain and enhance family time throughout the summer season,” commented Executive Vice President, Elias Plishner, of Worldwide Digital Marketing, Sony Pictures Entertainment.
