Long Beach saw the three peat for Team Blind who captured another team competition title at the 2018 Dew Tour held in Long Beach, CA.
The team consisting of Yuto Horigome (JPN) on Gaps, Micky Papa (CAN) on Rails, TJ Rogers (CAN) on Tech and Trey Wood (USA) beat the pack of skaters representing five other teams such as Girl, Primitive, Plan B, Element and Flip. Blind scored a 318.33 out of a possible 400.00 to take the title.
“This is one of the most fun contests,” said Papa, who also took the individual win in the rails section. “It takes some of the pressure off of you and it’s so great to take the win once again with my team.”
“There really isn’t so much a formula as it is just being in it,” said Blind Team Captain Bill Weiss. “It was super close the entire time so I never thought ‘we got this’ but these guys just do what they usually do and I’m pumped we were able to pull it off.”
Team Element lead by captain Bam Margera was not too far behind in second place scoring 317.66. 0.67 points away from taking the title away from the defending champions. Though overall the gaps segment is what pulled Blind ahead to the first three-peat champions.
The final day of competitions begin again tomorrow with Women’s Park Final starting up at high noon next to the Long Beach Sports Arena.
