Athletes are trying to make their last best score, as the annual Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award (ESPYS) approach.
The ESPYS have been around for a little over a decade and it sets them apart from any other type of award; not only does it gather top notch athletes, but it also invites well- known celebrities in the entertainment business to be a part of this great event.
The fans and experts in the industry vote upon the ESPY award up until the last day before the event is scheduled. The ESPYS, honor the past year in sports, by acknowledging athletes for their outstanding performances, as well as, reliving unforgettable moments.
This year, the ESPYS will be hosted by actor, comedian, and television host Joel McHale, best known for The Soup on E! The 2015 ESPYS will be held July 15th at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcasted on ABC7.
The event, which raises a little over $1 million, gives its proceeds to The V foundation, founded by ESPN and basketball coach Jim Valvano, in an effort to promote cancer research.
Among the honored this year, are Caitlyn Jenner who be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award and Leah and Devon Still, who will be honored with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award as they continue the fight against cancer.
Nominees are yet to be announced.
