When the world wanted a solution, government officials raced to find a vaccine. Academy Award nominated director, David France in association with Impact Partners and Sandbox Films, is bringing to HBO an inside look at the massive global race to find a solution that will save lives.

In the war against this worldwide pandemic this feature length documentary, debuting next year on HBO and HBO Max, will give an inside look at the research, develop, regulate and distribute of COVID-19 vaccines.

The first effective vaccine doses began reaching people in the U.S. in December 2020, but as death tolls continue to rise, bumpy roads and global political machinations have brought towering obstacles and sharp disputes with enormous implications.

Currently many states are under mask mandates and practicing social distancing, while slowing entering a re-open phase. Vaccines by pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer and Moderna, have begun to roll out to first responders and those in the hardest hit areas, with Johnson and Johnson having received emergency use by the FDA to distribute their vaccine.

President Biden also announced that the Johnson and Johnson partnership with Merck & Co. to help produce vaccines will change the timeline so that there would be enough vaccines for every American adult by the end of May.

“About three weeks ago, we were able to say that we’ll have enough vaccine supply for adults by the end of July, and I’m pleased to announce today, as a consequence of this stepped-up process that I’ve ordered and just outlined, this country will have enough vaccine supply … for every adult in America by the end of May.” Biden said.

“COVID-19 has proved one of the most vexing and deadly diseases for vaccine scientists,” says director David France. “From the first effective vaccine to the current scramble to respond to an ever-changing virus, to their politically perilous efforts reaching patients in the far corners of the earth, we have been embedded in every aspect of this historic undertaking to produce the most heart-pulsing story of our time. Science and humanity will never be the same.”

The feature length, untitled documentary will debut next year on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
