The Tokyo Olympics will begin next week, Peacock will be showing “The Sisters of 96: The 1996 USA Women’s Olympic Soccer Team” today while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Atlantic Games and honor of the Female Olympians.

The hour-long special which is by produced by NBC Olympics, shows the U.S Women National Team from 1996 Olympics in their final Soccer tournament as they try to win the gold medal but in a full version. Since the golden medal match was not fully televised during that time, Peacock has made it available in their platform. This exciting special will give fans a front row seat as they watch the teams victory and legacy. Most importantly is taking Olympian soccer stars Brandi Chastain, Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Kristine Lilly, Shannon MacMillan, Briana Scurry, and Tisha Venturini back to the field where they played the Olympic final while watching the match together for the first time.

“It’s an honor to represent your country in international competition. To do it in your home country and win the first-ever women’s soccer tournament at the Olympics makes it even more special and significant,” Foudy said. “It was a thrill to visit the site of our gold-medal win with my teammates and watch that match together for the first time. I’m excited for all of the fans to relive it with us in this documentary.”

The 1996 Women’s soccer team are also featured in the three-part documentary series “The 96 Effect” produced by Lookalike Productions which will includes special interviews from other Title IX female athletes. Each of the athletes from the basketball, gymnastics, soccer and softball reveals their take on how the 1996 USA team inspired each other and the impact they brought on their sport.
