Thursday Night Music at Zona Rosa is an ongoing live music series that pairs Zona Rosa Coffee’s delicious brew with fantastic music. And this past week was exceptional as Raul Pacheco (of Ozomatli) and his band the Immaculate Conception entertained patrons  this past Thursday night.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Zona Rosa Coffee or their music series, their setup may seem unassuming and small but provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Several benches are set up outside in a long space next to Zona Rosa that creates a lively open yet intimate space for  patrons to interact with each other and the musicians. Hanging lights and bright decorations can be seen up above, giving that well lit but not to bright atmosphere.

But the most important thing is the music, which was on point. Those who are fans or merely familiar with Ozomatli know that their blend of various genres leads to a unique, diverse sound. These influences are carried over by Raul Pacheco, lead singer and guitarist for Ozomatli, and the Immaculate Conception.

Throughout their performance on Thursday night, Raul Pacheco and the Immaculate Conception brought an audience of strangers together through a set list that spanned from their own Latin/rock/reggae fusion to covers of Bob Marley. Eventually everyone in the audience was standing and singing together in one beautiful moment of togetherness and unity. Pacheco walked amongst the crowd encouraging everyone to sing along and clap while the Immaculate Conception delivered a beautiful homage to Marley’ s “Could You Be Loved” that lifted this writer’s soul.

Those who have not stopped by Zona Rosa Coffee for Thursday Night Music need to do so at the next available opportunity. It is chance to have an intimate night amongst strangers and musicians alike brought together by music and delicious coffee.
