Tomb Raider just released their 2nd extended trailer leaving fans on edge to see an expedition of Lara Croft complete her father’s research and uncover ancient family secrets that could clear her name.
The film stars Alicia Vikander, who thinks she’s going mad after she believes to have seen her father – who died seven years prior, lost at sea. This action-adventure film, directed by Roar Uthaug, takes you on Lara’s adventure as she fearlessly invades a fabled tomb on a mythical island. Somewhere off the coast of Japan, this island is the last place Lara’s father was seen.
As she boards a vessel to take her to this dangerous part of the ocean, she tells her shipmate, “It’ll be an adventure.” The worried traveler replies, “Death is not an adventure.”
Lara Croft seems to be able to do it all, as she is seen in the trailer falling from an aircraft, jumping from a sinking ship, shooting arrows at attackers, dangling from waterfalls and running through tombs. Vikander tackled this role that Angelina Jolie played in 2001 and 2003.
“Lara’s trying to carve out her place in the world and connect her future with her past. She also has a fantastic mix of traits – tough, smart, vulnerable, plus she’s kick ass! She is uniquely different to other characters I have taken on. It is a lot of fun trying to get into Lara’s head and the challenge of getting to grips with such a physical role is an element of this project that I find an absolute thrill,” Vikander told Vanity Fair.
Written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons, it is primarily based on the 2013 video game of the same name by Crystal Dynamics, and will be a reboot of the Tomb Raider film series. The film is scheduled to be released in the in Real D 3D and IMAX 3D by Warner Bros. Pictures.
