During uncertain-COVID-related times, the active social scene in Southern California is itching to find things to do. Lucky for us, The Tribeca Drive-In is set to hit The Rose Bowl in Los Angeles July 2nd and stay through July 26. Films will be airing every weekend running Thursday-Sunday throughout the month.
The company is also stopping in other cities including, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX; Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NY; & Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL. Tribeca says there are more cities to be announced in the coming weeks with their summer series not being limited to just movies.
The film selection ranges from comedies to children films to all-time classics. The line-up is comprised of 30 films including: Straight Outta Compton, Space Jam, Mean Girls, Inside Out, The Wizard of Oz, and even a 45th anniversary screening of Jaws. In L.A., Tribeca is partnering with an independent comedy production & distribution company to put on a new form of stand up comedy shows.
In another partnership, Tribeca will be partnering with the National Football League to host NFL-related events. Dallas, Miami, and Seattle are included in these NFL venues and the details of their hosted events will be announced at a later date by each individual team.
In a press release the company stated, “At a time when people are eager to connect and convene again, and feel connected through their community and art, we are taking the spirit of Tribeca around the country by creating a safe environment where audiences can come together and enjoy the sense of connection found by going to the movies.”
Tribeca also highlighted that a percentage of the ticket sales are going to be donated to Black Lives Matter. They also wish to show their appreciation for frontline workers assisting in the fight against COVID-19 by offering complimentary access and reserved parking to essential workers the first night in every city.
LA residents look forward to housing The Tribeca Drive-In during the month of July. You can view show times & purchase tickets here.
