This weekend at the Coachella Music and Art Festival one of the most amazing performances out of the festival this past Sunday was the holographic image of Tupac Shakur via hologram performing with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog also brought out additional special guest performers such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Kalifa and Warren G.
Shakur onstage of himself shirtless and performed “Hail Mary” and then “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” with Snoop Dog. MTV News mentioned that the presentation was created by AV Concepts of San Diego. “We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre’s vision to bring this back to life,” company president Nick Smith told MTV News. “It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life.”
Smith was unable to talk about how the hologram and the voice sync such as Shakur acknowledging the crowd at Coachella. Smith said, “”You can take their likenesses and voice and … take people that haven’t done concerts before or perform music they haven’t sung and digitally recreate it.”
The video of the performance can be seen below.
