It’s Official! Vin Scully gets his own Ave.

The word is in! After days of rumors that the legendary Voice of L.A, Vin Scully, was going to get his own avenue is finally becoming true. The L.A City Council had a meeting Friday morning, deciding if Elysian Park Avenue would now be known as Vin Scully Avenue. The unanimous decision wasn’t hard since Scully has been with the Dodgers for 66 seasons, making him the longest sports broadcaster to be with a single team.

The renovation of this historical piece will be completed in 30 days and will soon be seen by all L.A locals and out of towners as 1000 Vin Scully Avenue. You may be asking why it will take 30-days to change it right? Well, in order to make it official, government agencies have to be notified as well as the U.S Post Office.

This is a big part in history, especially since Vin Scully now entering his 67th season, announced that this season will be his last. It will be a sad day for all Dodger fans, but with that awesome commemoration, Vin Scully will always be a part of Dodger history.

And in lieu of this special day Vin Scully shared a message on his social networks saying, “I am overwhelmed. I was raised in the streets of New York and to have a street named after me in Los Angeles is almost too much to comprehend. I am eternally grateful to the Los Angeles City Council and especially Councilman Gil Cedillo.” Scully says as he shares his gratitude about this recognition. He continues with, “a path to Dodger Stadium is a path way to my heart. For 55 years it has been an honor to walk that road to one of the greatest entertainment centers in the world, a place that has brought so much joy to all of us. I thank God for this great honor.” With that he concludes his message thanking everyone responsible for making this day a special one to him.

It’s true after this season fans will miss that popular intro, “It’s time for Dodger baseball,” but all fans and athletes know Vin Scully is an icon and deserves this plus more, but no matter what Scully receives he always remains humble and thanks his fans for making all his dreams come true. Congrats Vin Scully!
