WarnerMedia is on a hot streak with numerous Primetime Emmy nominations, announced this morning. Leading the pack with a sweeping 26 nominations is the hit superhero drama, Watchmen. The adaptation of a 1980s graphic book from DC Comics paints a picture of American racial trauma and white supremacy, focusing on the racial violence that has taken over the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma is nominated for Outstanding Limited Series.

Regina King, who plays Detective Angela Aba/Sister night, is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. Jeremy Iron who plays Adrien Veidt, a businessman turned vigilante, earns a nomination Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Three nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special, for Nicole Kassell, Steph Green and Stephen Williams. Three, for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jovan Adepo, Louis Gossett Jr.). An Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie (Jean Smart) and one Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special (Jesse Armstrong).

In second place for most nominations is Succession, with 18 nominations. The satirical comedy-drama which centers on the Roy family owners of the global media and hospitality empire Waystar Royco, has earned its second nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. As well as an nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Jesse Armstrong, who won in that category at last year’s ceremony.

Two nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series to Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong. Three, for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Nicholas Braun, Kieran Culkin and Matthew Macfadyen. An Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nomination for Sarah Snook. An Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for James Cromwell. Two nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Harriet Walter and Cherry Jones. And two nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series to Andrij Parekh and Mark Mylod.

Rounding out the top three is Westworld with 11 nominations. The western science-fiction dystopian series, based on the 1973 film of the same name. Has earned Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton both Outstanding Supporting Actor nominations in a drama series.

Euphoria, Big Little Lies, the recently renewed for an 11th season, Curb Your Enthusiasm and at least 20 other shows. Have all earned at least one nomination, giving the company a total of 112 Primetime Emmy nominations.

The ceremony is scheduled for September 20th, 2020 on ABC.
