X JAPAN and Marilyn Manson rock out on stage at Coachella weekend two

A complete “rock opera,” described by the Los Angeles Times, legendary Japanese Rock group blew fans away when they took the stage at the second weekend of Coachella music and arts festival. With a line up comprising of mainly hip-hop and R&B acts, X JAPAN had to do something to make sure they stood out-and they did just that. Yoshiki of X JAPAN welcomed Marilyn Manson on stage in the midst of their powerful rock performance.

The singer performed his rendition of Eurythmic’s “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).” Along with him, weekend two festival goers were surprised with guitarists Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Richard Fortus of Guns N’ Roses, and holograms of Hide and Taiji, X Japan’s two deceased members.

Despite performing at the same time as Beyonce’s show, many people showed up to support the group.

“The mosh pits surprised me, too–the audience’s energy was unbelievable. There were so many rock fans onsite, let’s bring back rock to the mainstream, rock’s not dead. Thank you to our fans and Coachella from the bottom of my heart,” says Yoshiki of X JAPAN

X JAPAN is known to be the most successful rock group in Japanese history. The band has sold more than 30 million albums, singles and videos combined.
