At Apple TV Press Day, the cast of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” unveiled the official trailer for the series’ second season.
The 10-episode season of the Monsterverse series from Legendary Television will premiere globally Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, on Apple TV, with new episodes released weekly through May 1. The series stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm.
Season one follows two siblings investigating their family’s connection to the secretive organization Monarch. Their search draws them into a world of monsters and to the mysterious Colonel Lee Shaw, portrayed by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell, across two timelines spanning the 1950s and the present day.
Season two begins with the fate of Monarch — and the world — at risk. The story reunites heroes and villains on Kong’s Skull Island and introduces a mysterious village where a new Titan emerges from the sea. The season explores how secrets from the past collide with the present, straining relationships amid the threat of a looming titan event.
As previously announced, season two will feature Kong and Godzilla and introduce a new Titan known as Titan X. New guest stars include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper and Camilo Jiménez Varón.
“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, along with Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman and Lawrence Trilling, who also directs four episodes. Andrew Colville writes two episodes and serves as executive producer. Black serves as showrunner for season two. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co. Ltd., which owns the Godzilla character.
Apple TV has a multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment that includes the second season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and several franchise spinoffs.
The first season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is now streaming globally on Apple TV.
Apple TV has also announced plans for additional Monsterverse series, including an untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel starring Wyatt Russell, who will also executive produce. The prequel will be showrun and executive produced by Harold, who will oversee the Monsterverse expansion on Apple TV under a new overall deal with Legendary.
Legendary’s Monsterverse began with 2014’s “Godzilla” and has expanded through multiple films, including “Kong: Skull Island,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” the franchise’s highest-grossing installment. A sequel, “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova,” is scheduled for release in 2027. The Monsterverse has earned more than $2.5 billion at the global box office and expanded into television, video games, graphic novels, toys and live experiences.
Apple TV launched in November 2019 as the first all-original global streaming service and offers drama and comedy series, feature films, documentaries and kids and family programming.
