It is official: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Universal Studios Hollywood’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster, will open this summer.

The announcement coincides with the launch of a new media campaign that includes a 30-second spot narrated by Fast & Furious franchise producer and star Vin Diesel, a longtime collaborator with Universal theme parks.

The commercial is scheduled to air during several high-profile sporting events, including the Winter Olympics, Super Bowl LX and the NBA All-Star Game on NBC and Peacock.

The spot highlights the thrill ride’s immersive design, which places guests inside Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furiousuniverse as the park prepares for its highly anticipated summer debut.

A preview of the spot is available online.

The roller coaster will be located on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood inside a large, red-brick, garage-style structure. It will feature 360-degree rotation technology designed to simulate the sensation of drifting cars, with riders spinning at speeds of up to 72 mph while traveling along 4,100 feet of aerial track — nearly the length of 12 football fields. The track will wind above sections of the park, including the multi-level Starway escalator connecting the Upper and Lower lots.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will debut as Universal Pictures marks the 25th anniversary of the Fast & Furiousfranchise and ahead of its final theatrical release, Fast Forever, scheduled for March 17, 2028.

The attraction draws on Universal Destinations & Experiences’ decades of experience developing innovative roller coasters across its global theme parks.

The ride will join Universal Studios Hollywood’s lineup of major attractions, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, featuring Mario Kart: Bowser’s ChallengeThe Wizarding World of Harry Potter, with Hogsmeade village, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the HippogriffJurassic World—The Ride; Illumination’s The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem; Springfield, U.S.A. and The Simpsons RideTransformers: The Ride-3DRevenge of the Mummy—The Ride; and the park’s signature Studio Tour.
