From Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg (“X-Men” films, “Deadpool” films, “The Martian”) and David Weil (“Citadel”), and executive produced by Boat Rocker, INVASION is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. The action-packed second season of INVASION picks up just months later with the aliens escalating their attacks in an all-out war against the humans.
The first season of INVASION is now streaming globally on Apple TV+. Since its premiere, the series has been praised as a “must-watch,” an “expertly crafted sci-fi series,” and a “gorgeously filmed global thriller.” INVASION has also been hailed for its “fantastical, action-packed plot,” its “grand scale,” and for its ability to be both “gripping and refreshingly patient.” Star Golshifteh Farahani was also lauded as a “standout star” and a “force on screen.”
Alik Sakharov is a former director of photography. He began his U.S. film career in ’80s New York City, working as a lighting technician in the industrial video scene. He went on to shoot music videos, commercials and narrative films.
Sakharov served as director of photography on several acclaimed programs for network television and premium cable, most notably on “The Sopranos” (38 episodes) and as director/cinematographer on “Rome” (10 episodes) and “Game of Thrones” (eight episodes). He served as director and co-executive producer on the third season of the television series “Black Sails.”
In 2007 Sakharov won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for the “Rome” episode “Passover.”
In season one and three of the series “Marco Polo,” Sakharov directed four episodes. He also directed a stand-alone Christmas special episode entitled “Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes.” In 2016, he directed episodes of “Goliath.” That same year he joined “House of Cards,” directing five episodes. Sakharov’s other film credits include “Boardwalk Empire,” “Dexter” and “The Americans.”
In 2018 he directed episodes of “Ozark.” Later that year, Sakharov joined “The Witcher” for three episodes in season one. In 2019, Sakharov returned to “Ozark” to direct the mega-block of the last four episodes of season three. He received an Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series Emmy nomination for the penultimate episode of the season “Fire Pink.”
