Amazon Studios most anticipated release “One Night In Miami,” directed by Emmy-wining actress Regina King is based on Kemp Powers’s stage play released the final trailer for the film.
The film follows four iconic black figures on the night of Feb. 25, 1964, after world heavyweight champion Cassius Clay (Eli Goree) defeats Sonny Liston.
To celebrate his victory, Cassius meets up with soul singer Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.), prominent football player Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) and Islam leader and radical black activist Malcolm X (Kinglsey Ben-Adir.)
The film highlights the racist, fascist, and Islamaphobic setting of America in the ’60s. Through heavy dialogue and conversation, the characters reveal their internal battles as black men in American society.
A timely film, reflective of the racial injustice environment still seen today.
Amazon Studios will release the film in select theaters on January 8th, 2021, and additionally on Prime Video on January 15th, 2021.
