Well known comedian and actress Anjelah Johnson will host a multi act special, as part of HBOs Summer Comedy Stand Up Special. This one-hour comedy special will feature “the best of the fest” as it has precurred a line-up of the funniest comedians in the Latinx community.

Filmed in the iconic Empire Theater in San Antonio, TX, and featuring acts from Gina Brillon, David del Rosario, Carmen Lynch, Monique Marvez, Pedro Salinas, Jesus Trejo, Mark Viera as well as special appearances from Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria and Danny Trejo. The show will have audiences laughing for days.

Johnson has been in the comedy game for over a decade and has over 60 credits to her name including actress, writer, producer and director. She rose to fame with the release of her comedy skit “Nail Salon,” where she hilariously describes an all too common encounter one faces when sitting across a nail technician. Her instant internet fame opened numerous doors, such as the opportunity to become a series regular on “MADtv,”  produce and star in numerous comedic tv specials and have many guest star and supporting roles in tv and film. Most recently she starred in the 2019 film “I Still Believe,” alongside KJ Apa and Britt Robertson and her 2017 comedy specials “Anjelah Johnson: Mahalo and Good Night” and “Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy” are now streaming on Hulu and Netflix.

“Ha Comedy Festival: The Art of Comedy” will air August 20th on HBO. The Summer Comedy Festival programming binge, will also feature solo specials from Rose Matafeo, Beth Stelling, and James Veitch.
