Thursday at 9PM we got a treat when BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez teamed up to give the world a banger collaboration with upbeat single and music video, “Ice Cream.”
Since July, the K-Pop girl group has taken to social media to drop teasers of the song. ‘Ice cream’ is the second single off their upcoming album BLACKPINK: The Album, dropping October 2nd.
For weeks, the featured artist was anonymous, leaving it up to fans to figure out the secret collaborator. Finally, on August 11th, they took to social media to reveal Gomez as the artist.
In addition to the song, the artists also promised a music video. The highly anticipated video features bright pastel playground sets, a vintage pink ice cream truck, and multiple colorful ’70s inspired outfit changes. As always BLACKPINK showcased their cute and clean choreography throughout the video.
The song, co-written by Ariana Grande and Victoria Monet, clearly rings true. From the unforgettable post-chorus lyrics, “Ice cream chillin’, chillin’, ice cream chillin’” to the strong catchy beat, is guaranteed to get stuck in your head.
Additionally, to honor of the release, Gomez partnered with Serendipity Ice Cream to create the Cookies and Cream Remix flavor. As a nod to the girls, the flavor is made with pink vanilla ice cream, thick fudge swirl and brown cream-filled cookie pieces.
