NEWS X MUSE Manny Gomez spoke with Holly Waddington the costume designer for the Searchlight Pictures film, “Poor Things” at this year’s Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The film has been getting a lot of praise from audiences and critics alike and it’s now spilling into award season! In the film, we see an array of beautiful costumes that evolve during the film. The excellent work in costumes is why Waddington was one of the honorees at the festival’s Variety Artisans Awards.

This past weekend, Waddington also won a British Academy Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for Costume Design on “Poor Things”.

During our conversation, we talked about Waddington’s amazing work on “Poor Things”. She talked about the opportunity to work with director Yorgos Lanthimos and get a chance to flex her creative muscle with the costumes for Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo. It was a great conversation that you can check out above!

The SBIFF Artisan Award honors those who have exhibited the most exciting and innovative work in their respective fields.
