Jose Hernandez is an accomplished astronaut and son of proud migrant farm workers who defied the odds to reach for the stars. Jose’s remarkable journey exemplifies perseverance and determination. Inspired by a passion for space exploration, he overcame challenges, including financial constraints, language barriers and 12 NASA rejections to fulfill the unimaginable – becoming an astronaut. Jose served as the flight engineer on the STS-128 shuttle mission, contributing to the construction of the International Space Station in 2017. Today, he inspires aspiring astronauts and new generations to dream big, especially within the Hispanic community.
Marquez Abella is a prominent and celebrated Mexican filmmaker, leading the charge for a new generation whose work sheds light on stories of resilience and empowerment. Inspired by her own experiences, Alejandra’s films capture the strength of individuals who overcome obstacles, serving as a source of inspiration for marginalized communities. With over a decade of experience in the industry, Alejandra has written and directed for TV, contributing to HBO’s Savage Detectives and directing two episodes of Netflix’s Narcos: México. Her work in film includes Semana Santa (2015), Las Niñas Bien(2018), and Amazon Prime’s Northern Skies Over Empty Space – all captivating stories that have established her as a trailblazer, redefining the cinematic landscape with each project she undertakes.
