A new fashion competition series, The Hype, that showcases the best from streetwear visionaries, is coming to HBO Max on August 12.

Hosted by Complex’s Speedy Morman, The Hype will feature ten rising fashion visionaries as they elevate their designs and entrepreneurial sense’s to avoid elimination while remaining authentic to their style. The street-style designers will compete for the chance to have their designs featured on StockX – the world’s largest streetwear reselling platform – and compete for a $150,000 co-sign deal that will take their career to the next level.

A panel of judges will critique the competing streetwear’s unique DNA, combining fashion, music, art, and lifestyle to refine the idea of a “runway” and the balance between art and commerce. Grammy-nominated recording artist and designer, Offset; creative director and founder of Bephies Beauty Supply, Bephie Birkett; and Emmy nominated costume designer and renowned stylist, Marni Senofonte, will serve as the co-signers the young entrepreneurs will try to impress. The series will also feature special guests A$AP Ferg, Cardi B, Dapper Dan, and Wiz Khalifa.

Offset joined Anthony Anderson as he guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! on July 20 and spoke about the series and working with young talent. “It’s giving a chance for the youth to be seen. A lot of these bigger brands, they take ideas and make all the money from it, and these kids don’t get a fair share or acknowledgment of their creativity and their art,” he said.

Scout Productions, the team behind the Max Original ballroom competition series “Legendary” and Emmy-winning series “Queer Eye,” is producing the series competition alongside Rob Eric, Michael Williams, and Emmy winning showrunner, Rachelle Mendez.

The Hype will premiere on HBO Max Thursday, August 12.
