Advance ticketing for the upcoming Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings starts today. For Marvel fans eager to be among the first to view the film, ticket purchases can be made online using Fandango.

The film, which will hit theaters on September 3rd, stars Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, a martial artist who confronts his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization, a terrorist group present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before Shang-Chi, Liu has been most known for his role as Jung Kim on the hit Canadian television show Kim’s Convenience.

Other names in the film include Awkwafina, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung. It is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who is known for directing titles such as Short Term 12 and Just Mercy.

Shang-Chi will be the first Marvel film to feature an Asian superhero, and its cast is almost entirely Asian. Liu, who has found himself at the forefront of a movement to advance Asian representation in film and television, told Inkstone in late 2019 that this movie could “change the world.”

“I realized that representation is not just the ability to see yourself reflected on screen, but to see what you can be,” Liu said in the same interview. “So if I see Asians portrayed as losers and nerds, at least on a subconscious level, that’s all I believe I can be.”
