The award-winning director Karena Evans, has been tapped by HBO Max to direct the pilot and second episode of the upcoming series “Gossip Girl.” After immersing herself in the entertainment world, Evans has quickly become one of most sought-after talents and is determined to represent the unrepresented. She soared into the spotlight in 2018 directing music videos for Drake, starring in the critically acclaimed feature film, “Firecrackers” and being honored with the Prism Prize Lipsett Award for her approach to music video art, making her the first woman ever to receive the prestigious award.

For years fans become hooked and obsessed with the lives of “It Girl” Serena van der woodson, her best friend and “Queen Bee” Blair Waldorf, “golden boy” Nate Archibald and his best friend Charles “Chuck” Bass and the outsider from Brooklyn, Dan Humphey a.k.a “lonely boy” a.k.a “Gossip Girl.”
Children, with the exception of Dan Humphrey, were from some of the wealthiest and most elite families in New York. Their lives resembled what you would read in the works Fitzgerald and Thackeray. A world of opulent wealth with no restrictions; what teenager wouldn’t dream of taking off to paris for a weekend and shopping at the most exclusive retailers in the country.
Prior to social media taking hold in the real world. Cecily von Ziegesar had long envisioned a world where everyone’s move is monitored and chronicled. There was no where Serena and her friends could go, no secret they could hide and no way to stop an animus blogger from posting every move and secret. Different from your typical reporter, this “Gossip Girl” was not exactly biased, and with an army of sources constantly sending in emails with information and tips. There was no one to stop GG from stirring the pot and the lives of Manhattan’s elite.
This new take of “Gossip Girl” is set years after the original blogger took down the site. Now, with HBO Max as GG’s new home, the rumors could be even more salacious and the lives of the eliet far more opulent.
