Jay Wheeler obtains 6 nominations for Premios Tu Música Urbano 2022

Jay Wheeler, the singer-songwriter and well-known urban music exponent has received six well-deserved nominations for the Tu Musica Urbano Awards 2022. The musical phenomenon is true to its vibe; it does not follow styles or trends; his music is original and genuine, allowing him to position himself as the genre’s “favorite voice.”

The genre’s most romantic singer-songwriter, who just released the album “El amor y yo” is one of the artists with the most nominations at the only global gala that honors the genre’s most remarkable performers, producers, and composers.

Considered one of the leaders of the new generation of urban music performers, Jay Wheeler stands out in the following categories:

  • Top male rising star.
  • Song of the year duo and group, for “Chantaje”
  • Top urban pop artist.
  • Top urban pop song, for “Eazt”.
  • Top trap song, for “Conexión”.
  • Album of the Year- Male Artist. “De Mi Para Ti”.

José Ángel López Martínez, artistically known as “Jay Wheeler” is an urban latin singer born in Puerto Rico on April 25, 1994. In 2016 he released a “freestyle” and created a cover to Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” reaching 1 million views on YouTube. In 2018 with Dynamic Records he released his first single and music video “Por Tu Culpa”. His romantic and melodic style provoked amazement among his fans and in 2019 he released “Mensaje De Voz” captivating his public with the emotional record. By the summer of 2019, he had reached millions of followers along with a music video going viral. Due to this success, DJ Nelson became interested in Jay and wanted to meet him.

At this time, Dynamic Records and Flow Music united and started working with him on two singles “Te Soñé” and “Otra Noche Más”. In November of 2019, he premiered his first album “Platónico” (composed of 13 songs), and within his album the track “Otra Noche Más Remix” ft. Farruko.In February of 2020, he launched the first digital urban concert “Platónico Unplugged”, a live acoustic version of his first album. In June 2020 he premiered his second album “Platónicos” with the participation of various artists such as Dalex, Brytiago, Feid, Nio García, Miky Woodz, Myke Towers, Alex Rose and Casper Mágico.

Jay Wheeler has participated in collaborations with Cauty, Lenny Tavarez, Noriel, Alex Rose, Bryant Myers, D Ozi and Larry Over. Among his many collaborations, he joined forces with Onell Díaz for a project highlighting suicide prevention. Jay Wheeler is considered an important phenomenon within the music industry and his talent continue to reach millions making him “La Voz Favorita”

Michael Sandoval is the Founder and Executive Producer of MUSE TV, as well as the Producer of NEWS x MUSE, Destination: The Theme Park Travel Show, and he is the Co-Executive Producer of "Hey Han" with Executive Producer and host, Hannah Fletcher. MUSE TV originated as a website covering music and entertainment news in 2012. The company has expanded to YouTube, as well as having its own podcast. One decade later, the MUSE TV Network now exists on Roku and Amazon Fire TV. Sandoval grew up in East Los Angeles, having graduated from Don Bosco Technical Institute. He began his journalism career in junior college where he wrote for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Whittier Star News, covering high school sports. Michael then continued his education at Cal State University, Fullerton in which he worked at KTLA as a production assistant for Kurt the Cyberguy. His journalism career eventually led to the transition into the realm of professional sports- specializing in marketing, sales, event planning and public relations with the National Hockey League, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Galaxy and Los Angeles Dodgers. Michael later crafted a hybrid of his journalism career, combined with his newfound marketing skills to create not only the MUSE TV as a news outlet, but also the MUSE TV Internship Program. This program exists with the mission to help develop the next generation of journalists.
