We have a secret that we cannot keep. The story of four teenagers who were terrorized by a mysterious figure known simply as “A” continues, in a new town with new secrets and with new pretty little liars.

From the executive producer and writer of shows Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, comes Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own.

From 2010 to 2017 Pretty Little Liars, starring Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell, ran on the family friendly Disney network, known then as ABC Family, known now as Freeform. By network standards the show pushed limits suitable for a family friendly network. The drama mystery thriller had its characters deal with issues such as harassment, bullying, lies and a variety of others. They also introduced storylines that the audience found to be relevant and helpful for today’s youth.

The Pretty Little Liars book series includes 16 books and three companion novels. It is a #1 New York Times bestselling series and was on The New York Times Best Sellers list for more than 80 weeks.

During its seven-year run, Pretty Little Liars ranked as the #1 scripted series on all of cable television in the teen girl demographic, and it ranks as the #1 series ever to air on Freeform/ABC Family. In its final season, the show amassed 62.5 million social engagements through the night of its series finale telecast — significantly higher engagement than the other biggest shows of that year, America’s Got Talent and Game of Thrones. Season six of the show was the #1 most social scripted TV series, with more than 270 million total social engagements across Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter.

“We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created. Said Roberto Aguirre- Sacasa and Lin Calhoon Bring. “We knew that we had to treat the original series as #CANON and do something different. So we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series, while weaving in new, unexpected elements.”

“Roberto and Lindsay are expanding the Pretty Little Liars universe with more murder, mysteries, and scandal, and we can’t wait,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max.
