NBC’s “The Voice” is back with a special two-night event starting Monday, Feb. 24th, 2020. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton return as couches for Season 18. The three coaches will be joined by Multi-platinum Grammy winner, Nick Jonas. Carson Daly will return as host.

“The Voice” has four stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, and, finally, the Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but their rotating chairs are faced away so they don’t get to see them. If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team. The coach’s chair will turn around so that he/she can face the artist he/she has selected. If more than one coach pushes his/her button, the artists get to decide which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes his/her button, the artist is eliminated from the competition.

Fullerton musician, Nelson Cade III was the stand out talent during the first part of the Blind Auditions. Cade’s rendition of Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Pride and Joy” garnered a 4 chair turn, although newbie coach, Nick Jonas was blocked by John Legend. You’ll have to tune into NBC on the 24th to find out which coach Cade chooses. Click below to watch Cade’s blind audition.
