NEWS X MUSE Manny Gomez spoke with Sherren Lee. She is the director of Lionsgate’s latest feature film, “Float”, which is based on the Wattpad story by Kate Marchant. It stars Andrea Bang, Robbie Amell, Michelle Krusiec, and Andrew Bachelor. The story follows a woman who makes a pit stop in a small town before heading to what she believes will be her career. But after she almost drowns, she falls for a lifeguard who rescues her, which leads her to begin to question her path.

During our conversation with Lee about “Float” we talked about what drew her to the project and the chemistry between Bang and Amell. We also touched upon the pacing of a romance story and why her choice allowed it to feel more realistic. Then we talk about the magic of a small town and how that also became a character in the film. It was a great chat that you can check out above!

Lionsgate’s “Float” is now available on Digital and VOD.

Here is the synopsis for “Float”:

Waverly (Andrea Bang) thought she had her future figured out. She’d start her medical residency in Toronto after a summer visit to her parents in Taipei. When her plans are suddenly changed, she makes an impulsive detour to a small Canadian town, where she meets local lifeguard Blake (Robbie Amell).

After he saves her from nearly drowning at a beach party, Blake offers to teach Waverly to swim, and as the lessons continue, the two unexpectedly find themselves falling in love. But will Blake’s ties to his past and Waverly’s plans to begin a new job keep them apart once summer ends? Based on the novel by Kate Marchant.
